Eight crosses: rounded like pages 1-4 in our series. Obviously these are popular images. The cross makes a great tattoo. It stands out really well and gives honor to the Celtic heritage.
This page has three different types of cross designs. The first three designs are rounded Celtic crosses similar to pages 1-4. The second type of Celtic cross design is a design that is made from an outline of a Celtic cross that was designed about 900 B.C. This cross is very important and carries the ancient taste in a Celtic cross. The final 3 designs are Christian or Catholic Celtic crosses. They are designed with Celtic Knotwork in the traditional Celtic style. One of them is large enough to be a Celtic cross back piece.
Wow. To describe an Irish Celtic cross... Well, to be honest with yourself you must ask yourself a question. What Celtic cross is "not" an Irish Celtic cross? Personally I feel they all are. Please write to me and suggest otherwise. I am open to suggestion... especially considering I am Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and English... and a descendant of one of the great Kings of Ireland... and obviously a Clark, clerk of the Celtic people. I would like to learn more if you would like to teach me. To be honest this page was designed to get hits on the search engines.
This page has an essay on it about the Irish Celtic cross that I have written to help people understand the definition of the Irish Celtic cross. It is a well thought out essay that includes the symbolism of the sun which is included in the symbolism of the cross design.
This page has 8 Celtic crosses that do not have a circle around them. They are possibly more considered as a Celtic Christian cross.
This page includes a variety of designs. The first cross on the page is of a Celtic cross with no circle around it - similar to page 7. The second Celtic cross is an Arthurian cross... which I consider a High Celtic Cross. This cross is hard to find. The third Celtic cross is of an unusual Mystic Cross - very rare when combined with Celtic Knotwork (probably the only one in existence). The last cross is a crux ansata, or the Egyptian Ank. Jeez, why did I draw this? Well, considering that our carvings and theirs are similar (especially considering the circle swirl and the Celtic key patterns, I though "why not"? and just did it. Maybe there is a half breed out there somewhere who would like to combine our eternal symbolism...
